President Reshuffles Cabinet After Ministers’ Resignation

President Goodluck Jonathan has made changes to his cabinet after the resignation of 7 ministers last week

President Goodluck Jonathan has today, October 22, reshuffled his cabinet in a bid to address the vacancies created by the resignation of 7 ministers.

The President has reportedly appointed Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed, the Minister of State II for Foreign Affairs, as the Supervising Minister of Information until a new minister can be named to fill the position which was vacated by Mr. Labaran Maku.

News of the development was disclosed by Dr. Mohammed to State House correspondents at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting, Punch reports.

The Minister of State I, Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, will also take over as acting Minister of State for Education while the Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki (SAN) will act as the Supervising Minister of Labour and Productivity.

Meanwhile the duties of former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro will be temporarily taken over by the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Aliyu Gusau.

All the appointments except Prof. Onwuliri’s are said to be temporary until the appointment of new ministers.
