FRSC sector commander urges motorists to install road safety tool

Motorists in Bayelsa state are being advised to install the Speed Limiting Device, due to its many benefits.

Avoid accidents by obeying traffic rules

Unfortunately, people have not responded to this, in spite of the many benefits of the SLD.

According to the Bayelsa FRSC Sector Command, only 107, out of the 533 vehicles inspected from Oct. 1 to Oct.12, have installed the device.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa, Mr Wobin Gora, Bayelsa FRSC Sector Commander, said, "this put our record at 20 per cent compliance in Bayelsa as at the period."

He also encouraged motorists to install this device.

"The compliance is not encouraging. I, therefore, urge commercial drivers to embrace the policy that can check and reduce fatality on our road,”Gora said.

He was supported by Mr ThankGod Eribo, the Chairman of Bayelsa Chapter, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), who also encouraged members to use the policy.

In related news, the FRSC has taken its awareness campaign on the device to churches and markets.

"Our men have been doing enforcement campaign.

We have been doing campaigns in worship centres and market places; we have organised stakeholder’s meetings in several communities to ensure that the people are educated on the need to have speed limiter", the Bayelsa FRSC Sector Commander added.
