President working from home because rodents damaged his office

The president's office was damaged by rodents while he was away in London.

Ailing Nigerian President Mohammadu Buhari on his return back to the country in Abuja, on August 19, 2017

According to a report by ThisDay, this revelation was made by the president's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba.

He said, "Following the three months period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units."

An unnamed presidency source had disclosed on Monday, August 21, 2017, that President Buhari would be working from home after resuming his official duties as president.

This was later confirmed by the president's Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, who had posted on Twitter, "Some renovations are on going at the office. He's a fully equipped office in his residence, he'll be back to the main office after the works."

There have been no other forthcoming information about the renovations or how long it will take before the president is able to start working from his office.

However, Shehu said the arrangement won't affect the president's duties because there is an annex to the office in his residence.

President Buhari made his return to the country on Saturday, August 19, 103 days after he left for London to resume treatment for an undisclosed illness.
