Shakespeare classic makes 'dark' return to cinema

A latest film adaptation of one of Shakespeare's most famous works is making another return to cinema.

A trailer for the latest film adaptation of Macbeth has landed, and it looks gloriously grim. Starring Michael Fassbender as the titular character and Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth, the movie is an adaptation of Shakespeare's play about a bloodthirsty king and his scheming wife.

"The Scottish Play," as it's exclusively called by more superstitious folks, is one of Shakespeare's darkest works. Judging by this trailer, Macbeth is going to be every bit as tragic as the original play, featuring witches, battles and gore galore.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, Macbeth will hit theaters in the UK on Oct. 2. No American release date has been set yet.
