Nigerian prophet allegedly commits suicide in Kirikiri Prison

A man of God who was sentenced to prison has ended it all by committing suicide.

Prophet Destiny Onwudinjo

According to reports in the PM News, a man of God, Prophet Destiny Onwudinjo, the General Overseer of Heaven Divine Ministry, based in Shasha, Lagos State, has committed suicide inside his cell in the Kirikiri Minimum Security Prisons where he was serving a seven year jail term.

Prophet Onwudinjo, was sentenced to prison two years ago, without an option of fine for allegedly attempting to escape from the court by jumping from the dock and running out of the court where he was facing criminal charge of fraud and assault.

Fellow inmates reportedly narrated that Onwudinjo took his life because he was frustrated at his situation and was often looking forlorn, dejected and lost.

He then decided to end it all by repeatedly hitting his head several times on the prison wall and his head broke and he bled profusely.

The other inmates inside the cell raised the alarm and contacted prison officials who took him to their hospital where he eventually died because of the injuries he sustained.

The Enugu State Onwudinjo's travails began when he was charged to court by the police at Shasha division for brutalizing an commercial motorcycle rider, Chika Izuogu, for refusing to pay him N120,000 after a deliverance prayer he allegedly conducted for the 'Okadaman'.

In his evidence in court, Izuogu said that Onwudinjo told him he had a revelation from God that he needed to embark on seven days deliverance prayer so that his condition would improve for the better.

Izuogu said Onwudinjo explained to him that the money he asked him to pay covered the fasting and other spiritual materials he would use for the deliverance.

To convince Izuogu that the prayer will work after seven days, he told him that he will receive a divine blessing from God as an unknown person will give him N3 million he would use to start a new life and become rich.

Izuogu who seemed to be convinced told Onwudinjo that he would do the fasting by himself because he had no N120,000 to give him for the deliverance.

This caused a disagreement between them and in the process, Onwudinjo allegedly beat up Izuogu and injured him.
