Man in prison for stealing blocks in Abuja
A 25-year-old labourer has been sentenced to two months imprisonment for allegedly stealing blocks worth N600K.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the police prosecutor, Dalhatu Zannah, told the court that one Fonmilato Ominkule of Kado Bimko Gwarinpa Estate, in the FCT, had reported the matter at the Gwarinpa Police Station on October 4, 2016.
Zannah said that in September 2016, Julius had gone to Ominkule's block industry and stole 400 blocks valued at N600, 000.
When the one-count charge of theft was read to Julius, a resident of Kado Bimko Village in the city, he pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
The Area Court judge, Sadiq Abubakar, went ahead to sentence him for two months but however, gave him an option to pay N6, 000 as fine, warning him to desist from crime henceforth.
