“The suspects raped the girl in an uncompleted building near the market. They tricked her into the building, saying they would buy all the sachets of water, but raped her,” the Nasarawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Andekin said.

According to Musa, men of the NSCDC received a tip-off which led to the arrest of two of the suspects. Three of the other suspects were later arrested on the same day in Doma Market.

The four suspects, after their arrests, implicated the fifth suspect, who also confessed to raping the girl.

“From our investigation, the suspects have been in the habit of raping underage girls. We have been receiving reports of similar cases in that area; the rape took place on January 30, while arrests were made on February 1. They have all confessed to committing the offence,” Mr. Andekin Musa said.

One of the suspects, Mr. Samaila Ali revealed blamed the devil for pushing him into the wicked act.
