Israel Osanebi, a 42-year-old hotel manager, has been dragged to an Apapa Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos, for stealing the sum of N512,000 from his employer.
Manager arraigned for stealing from employer
An hotel manager has been docked for stealing money meant for the outfit.
While stating his case, the prosecutor, Corporal John Iberedem, said the offence was committed at the Events Hotel, located at No. 2, Nosamu Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, where Osanebi was the manager.
Iberedem said the money was for sales collected by the accused but instead of remitting same into the account of the hotel, he absconded with it.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Section 285, he noted, prescribes a three-year jail term for stealing.
But Osanebi pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him and Senior Magistrate G. L. Otepo granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000, while adjourning the case till July 20, for mention.
