In a classic case of dog eating dog, a police corporal has gunned down a Mobile Police commander in Bauchi State over a disagreement over uniform.
Police corporal guns down Mobile commander in Bauchi
A drunk police officer has murdered his commander in Bauchi State over disagreement on uniform.
The late commander, Superintendent Chris Eza, a former Aide-de-Camp to Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, was in charge of the Mopol 10 Unit in Bauchi before he was shot dead.
The pathetic incident which happened on Thursday, February 26, 2015, has sent the state police command into mourning and sadness.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, the late Eza was a routine visit to a checkpoint on Ahmadu Bello Way, when he spotted the corporal who had been demobilized from the mobile force and had no reason to be wearing the uniform.
The commander was said to have reprimanded him and told him he should not be wearing the mopol uniform since he was no longer in the force.
The obviously trigger happy corporal was said to have answered the commander rather rudely and the commander asked the other officer around to arrest him.
The corporal was reported to have corked his gun and emptied the ammunition on Eza before fleeing the scene.
Eza was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.
