Woman bags 24 years in jail after beating 21-month-old daughter to death

The drug-addict mother of the late Ayeeshia Jane Smith, Kathryn Smith has reportedly been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years last week, following the murder charge leveled against her.

The drug-addict mother of the late Ayeeshia Jane Smith, Kathryn Smith has reportedly been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years last week, following the murder charge leveled against her.

Daily Mail reports that Kathryn's ex partner and Ayeeshia's father, Matthew Rigby, had also been found guilty of allowing the girl's death, bagging a sentence of three years.

Judge Geraldine Andrews who presided over the case, said of Ayeeshia:

"For no apparent reason her life was snuffed out by a brutal beating in her bedroom surrounded by her toys.

"You were devious, manipulative and selfish, young woman. You were completely self-centred and told lie after lie to the authorities."

The reports reveal that Ayeeshia had been heard screaming 'stop mummy, stop daddy' just before she had been murdered in May of 2014.

Ayeeshia's injuries which had reportedly been likened to those of a 'car crash victim' - when catalogued, included a torn heart, a partially severed tongue, shattered ribs and was missing tufts of hair.
