The prosecutor in the case, Inspector Hashimu Musa, narrated in court that the case was reported to the Central Police Station by one Malam Nuhu Umar of Funtua town who complained that the accused abducted the baby at the Comprehensive Health Centre, Funtua, while the staff on duty had gone to say their morning prayers.

Musa alleged that the accused went away with the baby under the pretence of assisting the nursing mother but while sneaking out of the hospital, she dropped her hospital card bearing her name and it was through the card that she was traced and arrested where the baby was rescued from her.
