“I still vividly recalled the last time I saw her. She was returning to her post in Sokoto. I took her to Iddo Park last Sunday. I remembered looking at the Sienna car she boarded.

For reasons I couldn’t fathom, I felt uneasy. I asked one of the conductors at the park if he was sure the Sienna car wouldn’t have an accident on the way.

I bid her farewell. But I was later awoken that night by a caller, who told me that my daughter had died in an accident and was in the mortuary.”

Tope was a Mass Communication graduate of the University of Benin, Edo State and had come to Lagos from her base to attend her mother’s reception after coming back from the recent Hajj in Mecca.
