The beach polo tournament tagged 'Africa Beach Polo' is set to kick off on March 11, 2016 at the first permanent beach polo arena in the world.

The tournament will see the first time that Polo is televised as a league to all 54 countries in Africa through Super Sports and will see Team World take on Team Africa.

The event will run over 2 days, with a demo event on the 10th that sees a team of international players take on local Nigerian players. The main event on the 11th will have a mixed Team World, with a player representing the UK, Germany and Argentina play against Team Africa, with players from Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon.

The league will also see local players from all around Nigeria play over a 6 week period to compete for the inaugural Africa Beach Polo Cup.

About the Arena:

Play at Bamboo Arena is a collaboration between the Elegushi Royal Family and Bamboo Green Concepts to bring a unique outdoor arena permanently to Lagos. Beginners can learn to ride and play polo at the arena or relax in the clubhouse by the pool.

Nigerian Polo players, Yinka Alakija and Neku Atawodi recently went on a testing trip to Africa Beach Polo field. Neku Atawodi is a Nigerian female polo player. She is popular for being one of the few black female polo players in the world.

Alakija started riding at the age of four and became a Professional at age 9. He has participated in Major Tournament at age 11 and have been riding polo for over 25 years
