A drama about the lives of three rich, entitled, passionate and ambitious young men, Kalifah, Nuhu and Diko, "Sons of the Caliphate" thrives on power play and revenge, with a well-rounded talented cast that have you coming back weekly.

Its fealty to real-life elitism is one of most impressive aspects of the series.  "Sons of the Caliphate" is a rich and accurate picture of the Northern Elite class, delivered with a palpable dedication.

With well-crafted humour, plot, dialogue and top-notch production design, "Sons of the Caliphate" earns a spot on this list.

A refreshing, feminine, brilliant and powerful web series, “King Women” is an interview-based series by Adetiba.

As the host, she understands how to build relationships with her interviewees and get them to share their unheard stories.

The women in each episode tell their stories from their hearts. It's the passion and sincerity with which they share their live story that evoke emotions from viewers.

2. "Battleground"

An entertaining reflection of our society, "Battleground" is a family drama that explores relationships, betrayal, infidelity, politics and romance.

It tells the story of a wealthy man who cheats on his wife, secretly marries his side chick, has kids with both women, and following a set of events, sees his two worlds suddenly collide.

Basically the ingenuity of a team of young talents, the series boasts several first-time talented actors, including Nonso Bassey (Dr Emeka), Chike (Mayowa) and Ron Mgbatogu (The General), and is guaranteed to create household names.

A consistently poignant and logical show, "Battleground" is a win for 2017 TV.

1. "Jemeji"

Africa Magic's "Jemeji"is stylishly satisfying and shocking. The show unravels at a hypnotic pace, drawing viewers into the lives of the citizens of Aji.

The show is a hybrid of well written and directed jaw-dropping and ethereal moments.

However, what makes it more compelling is the cast, whose dedication and enthusiasm for their characters and the show, in general, clearly comes off the screen.

Tremendous acting from Tope Tedela, Omuwumi Dada, Demola Dedoyin and Ayoola also gives it an extra advantage.
