1. She was born on August 4, 1981, with the real name Rachel Meghan Markle.

3. Markle is most famous for playing Rachel Zane in the USA legal drama "Suits."  The seventh season will  be her final season on the show.

4. Markle was once married

Markle was married to actor and producer Trevor Engleson from 2011 to 2013. He is making a fictional comedy TV show about losing a wife to a royal.

5. At the age of 11, Markle wrote to Hillary Clinton about sexism.

According to The Telegraph, the manufacturer of the soap advertisement which implied that a woman's place was the kitchen, changed the ad.

6. She is engaged to Prince Harry

Markle has been in a relationship with Prince Harry since June 2016. They announced their engagement on November 27, 2017, and intend to get married in spring 2018.

7. Markle will quit acting

Following her engagement, Markle announced that after her wedding, she plans to retire from acting and devote her time to humanitarian causes.

8. She will be the first American to marry into the royal family in eight decades. The last was Wallis Simpson, who married the Duke of Windsor in 1937.

However, she will be the first biracial, American Woman in the British Royal.

9. Prince Harry had a crush on the actress two years before they met. According to Royal expert, Katie Nicholl, on a night out years ago, when Harry was asked who his ideal woman was, his answer was "Meghan Markle from Suits".

10. Her other movies and TV shows include "General Hospital," "Fringe," "Castle," "Horrible Bosses," "Remember Me" among others.

Markle was also the founder and editor-in-chief of lifestyle website The Tig, which closed in April 2017.
