The Vatican banish Gay Priest

Even though all Roman Catholic priest are required to take a vow of celibacy. A polish priest Monsignor Krzystof Charamsa was dismissed for his public coming out as a gay priest.

Charamsa has worked for the church's doctrinal arm, the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, since 2003.

As reported by Reuters, Charamsa spoke to an Italian and Polish newspaper that he was gay and had a boyfriend.

"I have to say who I am. I am a gay priest. I am a happy and proud gay priest,”

Charamsa, who was fired a day before the international meeting of Catholic bishops on family issues, organised his own conference at the Vatican, alongside his gay partner Edouard.

"I ask the pope to be strong and to remember us, homosexuals, lesbians, transsexuals and bisexuals as children of the Church and members of humanity," he continued. He has since relocated to Rome following his dismissal.

The Vatican in recent times has been battling with the issue of homosexuality with controversy over Pope Francis meeting with the Kentucky county clerk who was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.
