Who is Nigeria's best left-back?

Nigerian football has seen some exceptional left-backs over the years from Ben Iroha to Taiye Taiwo, setting the standard high for new up-and-coming lefties to try their trade in the forgotten position.

Left Full-backs are no longer the forgotten men on the football pitch. Indeed, some of the players on this list are integral to the way their clubs set up.

Jamilu Collins - Paderborn

Collins has shot right up to the top of Nigeria's list of options, and with good reason.

The former Rijeka man has finally delivered on his potential for both Paderborn and Super Eagles.

Not only is he back in Rohr's good graces, he's one of the form Bundesliga 2 players of the season - highly impressive stuff.

Ola Aina - Torino

One of the most intriguing youngsters that Nigeria have utilized in years, Ola Aina actually isn't a left back.

Well, he started off as a left back, moved to wingback, played and then flipped over to the right wing. Got it? Good.

Left back not his ideal spot, but it's a job he can more than capably do.

Brian Idowu - Khimki

Idowu's absence from the international setup in recent years has been a mystery to most, Rohr certainly doesn't rate him, whereas most of the watching country did. He didn't help himself by having a poor show at 2018 World Cup. He is performing well at club level.

Zaidu Sanusi - FC Porto

The Porto man lost his place at club level and it affected him with the Super Eagles. Sanusi is improving all the time, and can't be dismissed from the argument, but if you want a player with a good defensive grounding to play right-back, look no further.

Calvin Bassey - Rangers

Indeed if Nigeria weren't so blessed with options it might have already happened, because his form this season for Rangers has been excellent, and Super Eagles left-backs faces a real challenge to get back into the starting line-up.
