According to Carbuzz, this is against the rules because the VfL Wolfsburg is owned and sponsored by Volkswagen.

Wolfsburg's director of sport, Klaus Allofs, says the photo violates team policy.

"We have our rules, one of those being that you must pay attention to how you are photographed in public. The rules are not new. It's misconduct and it's careless, which at the end of the day will cost [] money."

Bendtner, the fined footballer, had posted a picture of the Benz Mercedes with the caption: “On my way to another session”.

While Bendtner is in trouble for posting a picture of a Mercedes Benz, another footballer, Memphis Depay, owns a black Mercedes GLA 45 AMG.
