Kamaru Usman has pledged to continue his support for the growing MMA scene in Africa.

UFC Champion Kamaru Usman has made the lofty claim that Mixed martial arts will eventually become the main sport in Nigeria, overtaking football. Usman made this claim at the end of the second edition of his flagship MMA show Face-Off Fight Night™.

“This is going to be bigger than football. We will be having people from various countries come to watch this event. It is already changing lives. These fighters will be paid for their efforts. This is an opportunity for them to showcase their talents”, Usman said. 

With the event, which took place March 18 at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, fans can now expect more when it comes to fighting entertainment in Nigeria. A number of celebrities attended the event, including Falz, Phyno and music legend 2Face.

Usman and his team will return for the third edition of Face Off Fight Night in July 2022.
