According to Police the Commerce student ended his life by hanging himself at his house when his parents were away.
The family members told the police that Harish was doing well in studies and aimed to get the top rank in second PU board examinations.
This pressure, they said, might have forced him to take his own life.
There's a student suicide problem.
India has one of the highest student suicide rates in the world. According to India's National Crime Records Bureau. 2,471 suicides were attributed to "failure in examination" in 2013 alone.
There's the common pressure from family members to succeed, especially at the Pre-University examination level. When the pressure builds up, suicide becomes a way out for many of them. It's why ages 16-18 have a high suicide tendency.
