Leigh Centurions have completed the signing of England international Rangi Chase on a two-year deal with the option to stay on for a further 12 months.

The 29-year-old half-back was a free agent after his contract with Salford Red Devils was terminated in October following a disciplinary investigation.

New Zealand-born Chase has now opted to continue his career with ambitious Championship side Leigh.

"It's not a gamble to step down a division," he said. "I'm looking forward to enjoying my footy again, which I will do here."

Leigh head coach Paul Rowley believes the 2011 Man of Steel will prove to be a shrewd acquisition.

Rowley said: "Rangi has undoubted class that I am sure will flourish within our team.

"I will look forward to challenging Rangi in different roles to ensure we bring the best out of him and that the team benefits from his presence."
