Pastor begs court to annul 15-yr-old marriage over constant beating by wife

A 50-year-old man of God and the General Overseer of Christ Living Church located in Owo, Ondo State, Pastor Tunde Adekunle, is now a happy man as a Customary Court sitting in Akure, the state capital, has freed him from his wife of 15 years, Agbeke, after he sought a dissolution of their marriage over her penchant for beating and assaulting him.

Pastor Adekunle, who was weeping openly in court, narrated how his wife had turned him into a punching bag, descending on him at will and making him a laughing stock in public places in­cluding his church.

The pastor who told the court that he had to undertake such a step to save his life, said Agbeke was a troublesome person who takes delight in beating up both at home and in public.

He added that his wife was a disgrace to his pas­toral calling and ministry, recalling that his wife once tore his cloth into shreds in the presence of his con­gregation during a church service.

Pastor Adekunle showed the court scars on his body to prove his allegation, say­ing they were tell-tale signs of his wife's frequent beating.

“There was no more affection existing in our marriage and home again, therefore, I want this court to separate us for me to enjoy peace in life.”

The President of the court, Mrs. Olayinka Falo­dun, based on the agreement of the pastor's wife to the separation, dissolved the union.
