With the international break over, Nigerian players were back in action with their respective clubs all over the world.
This is a review of their performances over the weekend.
In England
Victor Moses and his Chelsea teammates were on Sunday downed 3-1 at home by . Moses started the game brightly and had an assist in the 30th minute when Alvaro Morata headed in his cross for the game’s opening goal.
Tottenham, however, fought back and Moses was at fault for the equaliser, losing possession which led to Spurs’ first goal.
Moses was taken off for Olivier Giroud in the 81st minute.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. He was first booked in the 24th minute before he was given in the marching order in the 87th minute after a second caution.
Ndidi also conceded a penalty which was saved by Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute for Leicester.
Alex Iwobi was also an unused substitute in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Stoke City on Sunday.
In Turkey
Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo played just nine minutes in Kasimpasa 2-0 win over Goztepe in a Süper Lig game.
Omeruo’s teammate and compatriot Emem Eduok played just over 24 minutes in the game.
Super Eagles trio of William Troost-Ekong, Mikel Agu and Abdullahi Shehu all started for Bursaspor in a 2-0 away loss to Antalyaspor.
Troost-Ekong was in defence while Agu and Shehu were deployed in midfield. The Nigerian trio played all 90 minutes of the game.
Former Nigerian U-23 star Aminu Umar played 80 minutes for Osmanlispor FK in their 0-0 draw with visiting Konyaspor.
Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was absent, due to suspension as his Trabzonspor side were beaten 2-1 by Galatasaray.
In China
Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins was on fire for Shanghai Shenhua, scoring a hattrick in their 4-2 win over Hebei CFFC on Saturday.
Super Eagles captain Mikel John Obi failed to inspire his Tianjin Teda side as they lost 2-1 away at Jiangsu Suning FC. Mikel played the whole 90 minutes of the game.
In Russia
Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa played 84 minutes of CSKA Moscow’s 2-1 win away at FC Rostov.
Nigerian player Sylvester Igboun played just over 15 minutes as FC Ufa were beaten 2-1 by Zenit St. Petersburg.
In Germany
Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah was a late substitute in Mainz’s goalless draw at home to Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was an unused substitute for Mainz in the game.
Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen played 46 minutes in Wolfsburg goalless draw away at Hertha Berlin.
In the Netherlands
Super Eagles right-back Tyronne Ebuehi was taken off early as ADO Den Haag were beaten 3-0 at home to AZ Alkmaar.
Veteran Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche was an 86th-minute substitute for Willem II in their entertaining 3-2 win over visiting FC Utrecht.
In Belgium
Gent paraded three Nigerian players as they recorded a 2-0 win over Anderlecht.
Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu and Anderson Esiti all played in the game to win their first match of the Belgian First Division A Play-offs.
Moses was taken off in the 72nd minutes while Kalu and Esiti were on for 90 minutes.
Uche Agbo was in action for Standard Liege as they beat Sporting Charleroi 1-0 on Friday.
Chuba Akpom who is on loan from Arsenal was in action as St. Truiden were beaten 1-0 by Lokeren.
In Spain
Former Flying Eagles star Isaac Success played 66 minutes as Malaga beat visiting Villareal to record their first win of the year.
Nigerian striker Brown Ideye was not in Malaga’s matchday squad for the game.
In Sweden
Nigerian forward Alhaji Gero was on for 54 minutes in Oestersunds FK’s 1-0 loss to Djurgaarden FC.
