Why Nike is extending deal with NFF [Exclusive]

The NFF in April 2015 signed a kit sponsorship deal with Nike after ending their contract with Adidas.

Originally, the NFF’s deal with Nike officially began May 1, 2015, until at least 2018 before the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The American company has however decided to extend it because of the recent performance of the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles are currently in command of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying group after winning their first two matches, against Zambia and Algeria.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick told that Nike have agreed to extend their deal because they have been satisfied with the performances of the Super Eagles.

“We are one foot into the 2018 World Cup and the Super Eagles performance in the qualifiers have encouraged Nike to extend their contract with us,” Pinnick told Pulse Sports.

Pinnick also revealed that Nike will unveil a new NFF jersey to mark the contract extension.

Nike have launched two different jerseys so far as NFF kit suppliers.

They launched one for the Flying Eagles in May 2015 and another for the Nigeria U-23 team ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which was made available for the .
