New militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) was also included in the deal, a Nigerian official told Reuters.

“It was very difficult getting the Niger Delta Avengers to the negotiating table but we eventually did through a proxy channel and achieved the truce,” the official said.

The NDA had earlier denied reports that it was negotiating with the government and described persons who attended a peace meeting on its behalf as “political jobbers.”
