Adekunle Gold beats Ycee, Humblesmith, others to win Best New Act
Adekunle Gold wins Best New Act award, beating the competition of Ycee, Humble Smith, Mz Kiss, Toby Grey.
The singer who recently dropped his debut album “Gold” has endeared many to his authentic sound, and steadily grown his fan base across Nigeria and beyond.
The singer was one of a handful of nominated entertainers present to receive an award at the show as the event recorded a poor turnout of expected guests.
“Thank you very much guys, this means a lot to me,’ he said. “To everybody that voted for me, thank you.”
The award show was equally a memorable one for the talented Aramide as she bagged the award for Alternative Artist of the Year.
“I never saw it coming, and I am grateful to God for yet another opportunity. I have the best supporters. Shout out to everyone that voted.” The Afrosoul diva remarked.
Earlier this year, Aramide took the entertainment industry by surprise when she won in the Headies 2015 Best Female Vocal performance category for song ‘Iwo nikan’, edging out Yemi Alade, Asa, and Simi.
The singer whose latest single ‘Funmi lowo’ has been enjoying decent airplay inside and outside Nigeria will be hosted in Calgary, Canada on September 10, 2016.
She earlier in the year also had a collaboration with the Headies 2015 Alternative Artist of The Year Adekunle Gold in song titled ‘Love me’.
Aramide will be performing live in Calgary Canada on September 10, 2016.
The Best African Act award went to Ghanaian dancehall singer Shatta Wale.
