A hamstring injury has ruled Murali Vijay out of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka in Galle.

Murali Vijay has been ruled out of India's opening Test match against Sri Lanka with a hamstring injury.

The opening batsman picked up the issue during the recent Twenty20 and one-day international series' in Zimbabwe.

Vijay played no part for India in a warm-up match against the Sri Lanka Board President's XI last week, and India have decided not to risk him in the first of the three-Test series that starts in Galle on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has played 32 Tests for India, averaging 41.75 with the bat.
