Salah is well loved in Egypt and his popularity has soared following his heroics in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

In their recent presidential election, more than one million crossed out the name of two candidate -Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, the winner, and Moussa Mustafa Moussa - to write Salah’s according to the .

Because of that over a million ballots were spoiled. Mr Al-Sisi won 92%  of the vote.

Salah has been in insane form this season scoring 36 goals for Liverpool in 41 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

He has scored 33 goals in 55 caps for Egypt and scored the last-minute penalty that secured Egypt's qualification for the 2018 World Cup, in a 2-1 win over Congo.
