Acting FIFA president opts out of CAF election duties

Cameroonian football chief, Issa Hayatou has  opted out of CAF election duties ahead  of the FIFA Presidential elections.

“The president, in agreement with the executive committee, just wants to exclusively wear his FIFA hat in handling the election for which the final phase will start on January 26 with the final list of candidates,” a CAF spokesman Junior Binyam is quoted to say by .

Hayatou will only continue as the acting President of FIFA following the suspension of Sepp Blatter in October.

“They will be in charge of relations between CAF, other confederations, members and candidates for the FIFA presidential elections until the conclusion of the FIFA electoral process.”

For the FIFA presidential election in February, vice presidents Patel and Camara will lead the African delegation.
