Muslims have been banned by the Qu’ran to eat the following:

Pork —

“He has forbidden to you only carrion, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that over which any name other than God’s has been invoked; but if one is driven by necessity — neither coveting it nor exceeding his immediate need — no sin shall be upon him: for, behold, God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace.” (Al-Baqarah 2:173)

Dead meat —

Once an animal has been found dead, it is forbidden to eat.

Meat of an animal used as a sacrifice

Dogs

Meat from a strangled or brutally killed animal —

Muslims are expected to kill animals in a swift and merciful manner as they recite God’s name with the words, “In the name of God, God is Most Great” (Quran 6:118–121). This honors the fact that life is sacred.

Animals with toxins, poisons or anything that could produce ill effects

Alcoholic drinks

Worms, lice, flies, basically any insects considered ugly or filthy.

Meat from which a wild animal has eaten
