20-yr-old female student dies after drunk college hit her with jeep

A 20-year-old female undergraduate at the College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, has died after a jeep driven by a drunk student knocked her down.

Tasni Basheer, a third year civil engineering student who was knocked down on campus, died today at the hospital.

Police say Basheer was walking to her hostel when the driver of the jeep, a fourth-year-student, lost control and hit her around 4.30 pm on August 19.

There were 15 student in the vehicle at the time of the accident and the driver was reportedly drunk.

Bashee underwent three surgeries and was on ventilator support before she passed away.

City Police Commissioner, H Venkatesh, said the culprit will be arrested and charged with culpable homicide.
