A Polish court which is to rule on whether to extradite filmmaker Roman Polanski to the United States over a 1977 child sex conviction has not received the U.S. legal help it has requested by the required deadline, Polish state agency PAP reported on Wednesday.

This could prove a potential stumbling block in the controversial extradition case. At a sitting in May, the court said Poland had requested further information from U.S. authorities by Aug. 8, and adjourned the case until mid-September.
The court has now extended the deadline by the time it may take for the document to be delivered by post, PAP reported, citing an unnamed source in the court.
