Primary and secondary schools in Nigeria may be resuming earlier than the October 13th date set, as the Federal Government has announced a possible mid-September review.
Speaking after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting, the Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, said a body of experts had recommended the review.
Onyebuchi said the Minister of Education Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has been directed to meet with all states commissioners of education to agree on a date for resumption of schools nationwide.
The Minister revealed that a total of 7 people have died in Nigeria since the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease, out of a total of 18 persons infected
He added that only two patients of the EVD are still under treatment in Nigeria, one each in Lagos and Portharcourt.
Forty-one people are still under surveillance.
