Arsene Wenger fielded his strongest team after their midweek loss in the UEFA Champions League to Dinamo Zagreb.

Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Francis Coquelin all returned to the Arsenal starting 11.

Arsenal were solid in the first half as they held off the home side to few chances while Walcott was causing troubles with his runs behind the Chelsea defence.

Chelsea however got into the game and created some chances of their own.

Towards the end of the first half, Mesut Ozil embarked on a mazy run and found Ramsey at the back post, but the Welshman held on to the ball for too long before Chelsea won the ball.

In a fast turn of pace, the ball was worked to Pedro whose eventual shot was batted away by Cech.

With Chelsea and Costa finding it difficult to find a way past Arsenal, the striker changed the course of the game with his usual antics.

Costa caught Laurent Koscielny's face with his forearm as they wrestled for the ball. The striker ran up to Koscienly and bundled him to the ground.

Gabriel Paulista wade into the scuffle and was shown a yellow card along with Costa.

Costa and Gabriel continued to trade words before the Arsenal defender stuck his legs backward towards the Arsenal striker which earned him an instant red card.

At the start of the second half, 10-men Arsenal were pegged back by Chelsea who were a man up in the game.

Chelsea finally got their opener in the 52th minutes as a Cesc Fabregas free kick was met by Kurt Zouma after it evaded the Arsenal defence.

It was more woes for Arsenal as Santi Carzola was shown a second yellow card for his challenge on Fabregas.

Hazard got Chelsea second in the 90th with the help from Arsenal defender, Callum Cahmbers who deflected the forward's striker in to his own net.
