Governor lifts dusk to dawn curfew for Easter

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has lifted the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on the state on Tuesday, March 31, to as a pro-active measure against possible violence that break out after the declaration of the final results of the Saturday’s Presidential election that saw General Muhammadu Buhari as the winner.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, on Thursday, April 2, Fayose said the 7:30pm to 6am curfew was lifted to allow Christians celebrate Easter.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state had alleged that the Governor sponsored the yesterday April 1, attack on its secretariat.

Members of the party had returned from a peaceful street to street procession to celebrate General Buhari’s emergence as Nigeria’s President-elect, when gunmen rained bullets on its secretariat, destroying about five cars.

Fayose had denied involvement in the incident, rather he countered that the APC orchestrated it and wanted the public to believe it was carried out by outsiders.
