Djokovic beats Nadal in ATP World Tour Finals

Novak Djokovic produced a flawless display to beat Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the last four of the ATP World Tour Finals on Saturday.

The world number one will face either Roger Federer or Stan Wawrinka in Sunday's final at the O2 Arena after seeing off a resurgent Nadal 6-3 6-3 in emphatic fashion, levelling their head-to-head record at 23-23.

Top seed Djokovic suffered his first indoor defeat in three years against Federer in London this week and could get the opportunity to get revenge as he attempts to become the first player to win the season-ending tournament four years in a row.

Nadal, who won all three of his round-robin matches and was taken to three sets by David Ferrer on Friday, said Djokovic was in "another league" ahead of their last-four encounter and that proved to be the case as the Serb was at his scintillating best and the fifth seed had no answer.

Djokovic made an ominous start by breaking to love for a 2-0 lead courtesy of a combination of fizzing forehand and backhand winners of the highest order and followed up a deft drop shot with a well-executed lob to go 4-1 up.

Nadal was not given a look-in as he went a set down in 35 minutes, but fought himself out of a corner by saving a break point in the first game of the second as Djokovic continued to dictate the match.

It came as no surprise when the top seed went a break up at 3-2, with Nadal forced to one side of the court and the other before finally sending a backhand into the tramlines.

Fourteen-time grand-slam champion Nadal was unable to find a way back as he suffered a fourth defeat in a row against Djokovic, who sealed victory with two winners to stand on the brink of an 11th title of an outstanding year.
