Alex Marquez signs deal with Moto2 team Marc VDS

Alex Marquez, the brother of MotoGP world champion Marc, could soon race alongside his elder sibling after earning a ride in Moto2 for 2015.

The Marc VDS Racing Team revealed on Monday that they have secured the services of Marquez on a two-year deal.

The 18-year-old, who currently sits second in the Moto3 standings, will link up with championship leader and fellow Spaniard Tito Rabat.

"I am so proud and excited to announce I am joining Marc VDS Racing Team in Moto2 for the next two years," said Marquez.

"It is very important for me because I am changing class with a fantastic team and a strong team-mate.

"I have been working hard to be here and I want to thank the Marc VDS Racing Team for their trust in me."

Marc VDS team principal Michael Bartholemy added: "It has always been our goal to bring young riders into Moto2, and Alex Marquez is the perfect fit for us.

"He has shown he has both the talent and the drive to succeed with some impressive performances over the past two years, which are the attributes we want as we look towards the future."

Marc Marquez claimed the MotoGP world title last year in his debut season and has dominated the 2014 campaign, winning 11 out of 12 races.
