Margaret Wambui, sister of Kenya's president dies at 89

The deceased will be remembered as a vibrant individual who was invested in empowerment ideas aimed at bolstering the power of women.

Standard Media News reported that the deceased kicked the bucket on Wednesday, March 5, 2017 at her Lavington residence located in a suburb of Nairobi, Kenya.

Wambui is the first daughter and second child of President Jomo Kenyatta, a former Prime Minister of the country who served in office from December 12, 1964 to August 22, 1978.

Before her death, Wambui served as the Mayor of Nairobi from the year 1970 to 1976. She was the first Kenyan woman to be accommodated in that role.

She will be remembered for her empowerment programmes designed in favour of women and her active involvement in politics.
