Uja urges politicians to approach elections with fear of God

Uja made the call while addressing newsmen on Friday in Abuja on the commission’s Areopagus Pilgrimage Open House billed for Tuesday in the federal capital.

Uja made the call while addressing newsmen on Friday in Abuja on the commission’s Areopagus Pilgrimage Open House billed for Tuesday in the federal capital.

He said that politicians should bear in mind that it was only God that gave power and He would be the ultimate decider in the polls.

He appealed to every Nigerian of voting age to go out and vote, pointing out that it was a civic irresponsibility for eligible Nigerians not to vote.

Uja stressed that the 2019 elections should be issues-based and devoid of foul language.

He advised politicians to do their campaigns with integrity and show respect for other candidates.

He said, ”Nobody should intimidate anybody or the voting community.

“Politicians should know that no election ends and that every election is a preparation for another election, therefore, nobody should kill others in the course of the 2019 elections.

“All those who mean well for Nigeria should pray for 2019 elections.”

The executive secretary noted that the commission would organise pilgrimage prayers in Jerusalem and in Nigeria in January, for the 2019 general elections.

He stated that NCPC was working to ensure a more effective Christian pilgrimage, adding that the trip should go beyond visiting sites and shopping to transferring into Nigerians the right spirit to build the country.

“It should also inculcate leadership principles and promote productive development.’’
