Senate President inaugurates committee to reduce lawmakers’ salaries

The committee on finance will address the National Assembly’s budget while the second committee was created to draft legislative agenda.

 

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday, June 25, 2015, inaugurated two committees to function in the eighth National Assembly.

This was disclosed by Saraki on Thursday via Twitter. He said:

“2 committees were inaugurated today, Adhoc committee on finance to address the National Assembly budget & 2nd to draft Legislative agenda.”

“Committee on Finance 2 reduce our salary & that of Legislative agenda will continue to meet. 1ce we get ministerial list, we will reconvene.”

Meanwhile, Saraki has been criticized for going against the wishes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to appoint Senator Ali Ndume as Senate Majority Leader.
