Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, had on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 moved the motion to urge INEC to conduct the rerun elections as the state has no representation at the National Assembly.

The lawmakers observed that Rivers State and other affected states have no representation at the National Assembly, thus, denying the constituents of adequate representation in governance.

Arguing further, Ogor insisted that INEC's claims of insecurity as the reason for stalling the rerun is not acceptable as elections held in the dreaded North-East in 2015 despite Boko Haram activities.

The Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, also supported the motion saying the country was under-represented, as a result of the inability of INEC to conclude the rerun polls.

The motion was widely accepted by members who endorsed it after Gbajabiamila and Ogor rounded off their speeches.

The session was presided over by the Speaker of the House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara.
