Police foil attempt by group to blow up 3rd Mainland Bridge

A police team in Abuja intercepted dynamites and detonators to be used by the militants to carry out their evil act.

According to Vanguard, a police team intercepted dynamites and detonators to be used by the militants to carry out their evil act.

The police reportedly recovered two AK 47 Rifles, two cartons of Explosives and Detonators.

It was further reported that the arrest by the police, was made after several weeks of meticulous follow up on intelligence information on the activities of some militants in Lagos and Ogun area, who have been gathering explosives to carry out the dastard act.

Confirming the arrest and seizure of the explosives making devices, an official of the Police Public Relation office, Jimoh Moshood said one of the key members of the group, who specialises in explosives, Abiodun Amos, was arrested on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.

Amos, it was also gathered, is a 43-year-old man from Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State and also referred to as Senti.

A report by Channels TV revealed that Amos was arrested at the bank of Majidun River in Ikorodu area of Lagos with two AK47 rifles hidden in a bag he brought from their hideout in the Creek.

The police also disclosed that Amos has mentioned other gang members and is cooperating with the security operatives.

It was further disclosed that a Toyota Camry car belonging to the suspected terrorists, has in its booth, two cartons of Gelatine Dynamite Explosives and hundreds of detonators.

You will recall that President Buhari made a call to the militants in Niger Delta to sheath their swords and embrace dialogue.

Some political observers say this incident might lend credence to the allegation earlier made by Governor Nasir El-Rufai that militants from the Niger Delta are planning to cause trouble in Kaduna state.
