gunmen attack Kaduna, many feared killed

Many people have reportedly been killed following an attack by unknown gunmen in Maro Village in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

According to report, the gunmen attacked the village in the early hours of Tuesday, Febuary 26, razing many houses on fire.

Sources who witnessed the incident said the attackers overpowered security personnels deployed to the community.

According to the source, " Mobile policemen came but also retreated, one operation Yaki vehicle was burnt by the bandits. Soldiers have been deployed to the community and are engaging them. The fight is still going on.

“Our people have been killed and our houses have been burnt. For now, it is difficult to say how many people have been killed until the situation is calm.”

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State government has condemned the attack.

In a statement issued by the senior special assistant to the governor on media and publicity, Samuel Aruwan, the government called on the communities to support efforts to restore peace in the area.

Aruwan Said, " Today, the Kaduna State Government was briefed by security agencies of renewed attacks in Kajuru local government area, and in parts of neighboring Kachia LGA.

“The Kaduna State Government has been assured that the security agencies are working assiduously to contain the situation."

The attack happened a week after similar attack was carried out in the same location that left over 100 people reportedly dead.
