Biting fingernails introduces germs into your guts, skipping breakfast is bad, see more lifestyle choices that eventually take it toll on your health!

From not resting enough, leading a stressful life down to not eating right and so on, lifestyle habits affect the body decades- more or less- later in life.

To make sure the body stays in top shape the mind, body and the entire system stay in top shape, it's important to lead a healthier lifestyle. If you make the choices listed below, it definitely time to stop!

1. Smoking

By now a lot of people know that smoking increases the risk of heart disease apart from all the other long lists of its effect which includes dementia and dulling the taste buds. Over time smokers find it difficult to enjoy the natural flavors in their foods.

Sadly studies reveal that even second hand smokers are at risk as well, so it's  not enough to not smoke, its best to stay away from cigarette smoke altogether.

2. Not Getting Enough Sleep

Depriving yourself of enough sleep does a lot of harm than good! It can lead to depression, stroke, high blood pressure, low libido; the list is endless. Not getting enough sleep also disrupts the system, gets in the way of concentration/alertness and the list goes on.

It's important to get enough hours of sleep daily to help the body reset.

3. Not Drinking Enough Water

Water help the body  flush out toxins and aids the digestive system, skipping drinking enough water tends to put a strain on the kidney in the long run and it's bad for the body.

4. Overdosing On Sugar

Eating too much sugar/sugary drinks causes the liver to become resistant to insulin- an hormone that turns sugar in the blood stream into energy. When the body gets to a point where it can't control blood sugar level then there is a risk of type 2 diabetes.

5. Skipping Breakfast

For optimum performance and to kick the body to a swift start without forcing it, breakfast is essential. It's no wonder it's called the most important meal of the day.

Studies reveal people who don't skip breakfast and more in control of their weight and have lower blood pressure.

6. Overdrinking

Drinking too much alcohol leaves one at a risk of heart disease with excess alcohol causing high blood pressure and can lead to liver disease. While a glass or two can reduce heart disease by increasing good cholesterol level, with alcohol moderation is key.

7. Drug (prescription) abuse

Misusing painkillers, overusing sleeping pills can have long term side effects apart from building resistance to it over time, it can cause erratic behaviours and some times health issues that can lead to death.

Stay away from overdosing on drugs, do not self medicate, get expert help everytime.

8. Sitting/ Staying Inactive

Sitting in a place for too long does more damage than good. Get off the sofa/in front of the TV and take walks. exercise/stretch the body to keep it active and in great shape.

Other seemingly simple habits including nail biting can introduce germs into the guts, eating too fast which causes bloating, heartburn and miscommunication between the brain and the body (it's best to eat slower to allow the body process as well as help you chew and swallow properly).
