5 hacks for shaving with BIC razors

With a calendar brimming with events—weddings, awards nights, and team gatherings—it's your moment to shine. And trust us, achieving that suave, magazine-cover look begins with one fundamental step: shaving.

Knowing that shaving is still a mystery to most people, BIC has curated a treasure trove of tips and hacks to elevate your experience and help you get the best results when shaving:

1) Start with some skin care: Whether you are a lady or a gentleman, one shaving ritual you should never skip is exfoliating. Exfoliation is an excellent way to expunge dead cells from your skin and unearth ingrown hair. With your skin exfoliated, your shaving stick is bound to glide smoothly across your skin ensuring you effectively sidestep burns, bumps, and skin irritation — or at the very least minimise these shaving hazards to a bare minimum.

2) Lay on the shaving cream or gel: If you are aiming to have your skin as smooth as a baby’s, this is one step you should not skip. Shaving cream and gel create a hydrating lather that soothes and protects your skin. Remember to let the lather sit on your skin for a while. With this, you can rest assured that your shaving experience will leave you with little to no irritation and a skin that is delightful to touch.

3) Apply zero pressure: Shaving is not an activity that requires a lot of physical strength, so remember to go easy on your skin when you shave. With gentle motions, move your chosen BIC shavers in the direction your hair grows. If you are shaving underarms, we recommend you move your shavers first upward to lift all the hair and make it easier to cut, and then downward to get as close to the root as possible. If you are shaving your face, downward strokes alone will suffice. Due to the lack of pressure, you will very likely need to go over some areas more than once — and that’s fine. Remember, the goal is to shave smarter because this saves you from unnecessary cuts, bumps, and burns.

4) Moisturise: Now that you have gotten rid of all the unwanted hair, it’s time to show your skin some love. Start by patting down the area you shaved with a soft towel. Next, smooth on some lotion or aftershave balm. This helps hydrate your skin and minimises or eliminates irritation.

5) Hold off on the deodorant or antiperspirant: Smelling heavenly is an absolute must. However, to keep your skin from getting irritated, hold off on the deodorants for a little while after shaving. But, please, remember to use them generously before stepping out.
