Reportedly in its early stage, the musical will be directed by Pam MacKinnon with composition by Nathan Barr who scored the original hit HBO series.

According to the report by New York Post, the cast so far includes Ellen Foley, Claybourne Elder and Ann Harada.There is currently no information on whether characters from the show will return for the musical.

The post  reports that "True Blood: The Musical” is set in the fictional town of Bon Temps, La., where vampires live among humans. The town also boasts witches, fairies, shape-shifters and werewolves.

Based on Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries series, the HBO show ran from 2008 to 2014, and stars Ryan Kwanten, Nelsan Ellis, Rutina Wesley, Denis O'Hare, Russell Edgington, Alexander Skarsgård and Stephen Moye.

During its run on TV, the show aired over 80 episodes, won a Golden Globe, People's Choice, GLAAD, and an Emmy.

The seventh and final season premiered on June 22, 2014, and the last episode was aired on August 24, 2014.
