Speaking to Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, during an appearance on The Late Show, Gibson described the sequel as 'something big.'

“It’s probably about three years off, because it’s a big subject,” Gibson said. It’s more than a single event, it’s an amazing event. it’s not just some chronological telling of just that event. That could be boring, and you think, ‘Oh, we read that."

“What are the other things around it that happened? They’re in another realm. What happened in three days?”
