Nollywood movies to screen at 2016 Joburg Film Festival

"76," follows a soldier accused of being involved in the 1976 military coup and assassination of General Murtala Mohammed.

The festival will hold from October 28 to November 5, 2016.

Produced by Adonaija Owiriwa and Izu Ojukwu, and directed by Ojukwu, "76"  is told from two points of view: that of a young pregnant woman, and that of her husband, a soldier accused of being involved in the 1976 military coup and assassination of General Murtala Mohammed.

Synopsis:Six years after the civil war, a young officer from the middle belt gets entangled in a romantic relationship with a beautiful O-Level student from the Southeastern part of Nigeria.

Their budding romance was almost ruptured by endless military postings. Now heavily pregnant her walls came crumbling when the news of her husband's involvement in a botched coup attempt hits the headlines.

"76" premiered at the andhad its European premiere at the 60th BFI London Film Festival.

The movie has been announced as the undefined on Friday, November, 18, 2016.

Synopsis for "The Wedding Party"

Set in Lagos, Nigeria, "The Wedding Party" is a riveting tale of the complexity of love. It is the story of Dunni Coker, a 24 year old art gallery owner and only daughter of her parents about to marry the love of her life, IT entrepreneur Dozie. The couple took a vow of chastity and is looking forward to a ground-breaking first night together as a married couple.

The date has been set and the bride’s parents, who have recently enjoyed a surge in their fortunes, are going all out to make this the wedding of the century. Dunni’s about to be mother-in-law, Obianuju, is having second thoughts about allowing her son marry into a family she considers as beneath them.

Between matchmaking attempts on the bridal train, a wedding planner on a mission to succeed, the unruly behaviour of some ‘village’ guests and the groom’s ex-girlfriends looking to make their mark, it is clear the Wedding Party will be the talk of the town.

Will it all be too much to bear for the bride or will true love stand even the most chaotic of wedding celebrations?

The star studded comedy film will premiere in Nigeria on November 26, 2016, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
