Police arrest Congolese singer for assaulting female dancer

The singer was convicted in 2012 for assaulting his producer, Diego Lubaki, and received a suspended three moths jail sentence as a result.

This was following a live television interview on Citizen TV where the footage of the alleged assault took center stage.

Kenya’s Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, reportedly gave the order that Olomide be arrested, according to The Cable News.

The singer risks facing a year jail sentence if convicted under the penal code of the country, which states that “any person who unlawfully assaults another is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for one year”, report says.

This is not the first time the Congolese star has been linked with such a behaviour.

In 2008, he was "accused of kicking and breaking the camera of a cameraman from DR Congo’s private RTGA television station", The Cable reports.

He has already been convicted of assaulting his producer, Diego Lubaki, in an altercation that occurred in 2012. An incident that led to three months prison sentence.

When he is not kicking a woman at the airport or assaulting his long term music producer, Olomide is a music genius.

The singer once received four awards on a single night at the annual Kora Awards in South Africa for 2002 and 2003.
