New study says abandoning your faith might be the key to wealth

This new report claims shunning religion might actually lead to an increase in wealth.

According to researchers at the Universities of Bristol and Tennessee, ditching religion might just the secret to prosperity not necessarily for individuals but for countries.

The study found that higher levels of secularism lead to an increase in a nation's wealth and a greater tolerance for individual rights.

Based on output figures for 109 countries and the importance of religious faith in those states, the researchers noticed a modest increase in secularisation corresponded to an average £800 increase in output per head.

This was within a decade. In 20 years, there was a £2,000 increase and a £4,000 increase within 30.

The researchers noted: "A century ago, Emile Durkheim [a French sociologist] proposed that technological and socioeconomic advances come to displace the functions of religion, whereas Max Weber [a German Philosopher] contended the opposite, that monotheistic religion, the so-called Protestant ethic, made the development of capitalism possible."

But Damian Ruck, of the University of Bristol's population health sciences institute, told The Times: "Of course, there's no reason why you can't be religious and also respect individual rights."

Rev Adejumo says otherwise

Contrary to this report's claim, Rev Funke Adejumo says seed sowing is the key to financial prosperity.

In a recent clip uploaded on Instagram by Daddy Freeze, she says, "I've not taken permission from Pastor Poju because I am freeing my spirit in this house. I want to help some of you to move to your next level financially and I want to help you in 2018.

"Whether you've done it before or not it doesn't matter. You are going to give God N1 million in 2018 you can decide to give N2000 monthly as the Lord provides for you."

Her explanation for making this particular demand is that the givers will become stupidly rich.

In her words, "This is for you to get stupendous wealth saying I'm changing level. If you are one of them, I want you to step forward. Don't wait for anybody. I don't beg people to come out. This is what brought me to where I am today. I used to be poor!"

There are more videos of her asking people to sow a seed of $100 to $1000 in order to attract blessings and divine financial prosperity.

These videos have made her the target of heavy criticism from social media users and Freeze, who is a well-known religious critic.
